Unit 2 - Digging down - The Proust Questionnaire

Digging down, I’m stuck.

How do I get here, every time- so much information, many questions answered.....thankfully though my drawing and painting which has left me with a decent paper trail, one I shall prbably use in my reconstruct deconstruct process.

I remind myself to do a Wim Winders ‘make it personal not private’. Then I return to the ’What would GHR do’.

I laugh and all I can hear is ’paint a tree..... just be patient’.....

I feel Louise Bourgeois frustration rising up and then I suddenly hear Minnie Divers voice, on the radio , she giggles ‘yes I disappeared from the Holywood scene.....its not complicated .....I made a choice......how? Well thats easy...”

I held my breath, that moument when the gods (things) give you signs.....

What this world class actress gave up her film career because of a parlour game?

I listen on for some sort of reason behind this madness... it transpires that she chats to friends and they play the game and it keeps them sane.

How do you give up the opertunities that everyone else wants or the paths that are laid out for you so you can find the way that will fulfill you.

It has nothing to do being patient, it is research in to you or what you are attempting to do.

Intrested I listened. Proust it seems would interview his characters, 20 questions which would flesh them out and allow him to make them more realistic. The side effect was to answer and solve his uncertainly in there reactions to certain situations. By revealing their characteristics he became familiar with their desires and fears, their flaws and strengths.

Great food, a great view, laughter with paints, pencils and napkins, this how I find my answers, I basically beak bread with friends and family.

Mathew Burrows- he of the artist pledge- had given the same sort of advice a few moments earlier I in the shape of a venn diagram (below) and advoces that old adiage ‘know thy self’ not in such a dramatic way but just in a sort of helpful way, it was a great talk and Ive attached the link below.

Now to run my iconic pannels though proust and see if my modern day madonnas have any characteristics I can fathom.
