I finally found, with some help, some great glues from Falkner's- EVA.

Falkner's supplied some translucent papers which I put through the large format inkjet printer with Zotans help and printed up my figure for the spirit painting.
I have now combined these on a primed and stretched canvas and sealed it with Gamvar Matte. It has given me a very smooth matt surface that is working well which the collage and oil paints.

I have used Liquitex to photo transfer onto my primed canvas I don't think it works well on anything other than a white ground.
