'Women's Work'

Collaboration With Emily Wenman May/June 2021

This collaboration has taken us through printmaking, collating and collaging images both found and created, sewing, weaving, and sticking them into an order that was a direct response to our conversations around womanhood, culture, appropriation, method, and materials.

It opened some interesting new avenues for further exploration and research:

- materials more appropriate to our subject inquiry, eg linin, used for tea towels - more eco. friendy.

- stitching to be used for text or in an illustrative way.

By making, we created some new questions for future works, in context with both our own histories and views:

We both grew up with and appreciate flowers, their uses, meanings, and beauty.

How may we use this information more critically?

We were assisted by both Craig on the technical side and Nico on the third party input side, while trying to sort out our ‘how, why, and what, moments.’

By 9 pm we felt we were happy enough to leave the hanging for further consideration on another day.
