Lilith's complaint.

I decided to go full circle and talk to Eleanor. I last spoke to her in September 2020, we talked about female lore and my other pathways of knowledge.

We finished by talking about the PDF madonna That he painted in memory of his mother, It held significance for both of us and I see it every time I enter my mothers bed room she has a copy hanging over her bed above her blue and grey velvet quilt. There is Sonia Delaunay connection, she made one of her picture and referenced her mothers quilt, I seem to be doing the same with paper moon and Lilith’s complaint. I am referencing my mother Grandmothers and aunts. The emotional content is quite high, which has surprised me.

Eleanor approved of my Bessie Smith suggestion and its parallels, female struggles, sorrow, and inequality and felt the QR code would work well, she also said she was surprised about the development of both the male and female member In foetal development at 20 weeks gestation. I need to high light this In my process notes alongside the Internet information on the 3D print instruction that I unearthed. I am finding responding to a question or statement in this way very rewarding.

We talked further about Adams rib, Lilith, Pandora, Eve, Lemons grandmothers and Beyonce.

This will be some thing to follow up in my processes sections and critical reflection.

As we had a bit more time we went on to talk about my other intrests in rereleasing moments by collecting objects ideas and assembling them , not unlike the retelling of stories and we experienced another synchronistic moment. Last time we had spoken about a treasured document of Eleanors, a book that she had come by many years ago by Bernard shaw.

Eleanor spoke of her husbands fondness of Shamus Heaney and I recalled the time I listened to a poem in a pub in Galway Bay. Link below.

As I spoke I realised that I weaving memories with a narrative. Im not keen to formally make a film but I might be-able to link images in a way to promp my direction of narrative to become more consistent. I am reminded of the phase; ‘Never let the truth ruin a good story.’

This is something I need to research, as its the research that will allow me to keep my information or question at the center of what Im producing. Where the Artworks are based upon fiction, are a response or a fanciful rift into lore rather than empirical research I need find a way of alerting my audience, tile would do the trick.

I read few Shamus Heaney poems and could hear his voice, synchronicity struck again. I realised that I was infact creating an art piece that intercedes to the virgin mary to call for equality in the name of all we call female or woman.

(This is an Catholic ritual that allows a women to call on the Virgin to intervene with that the powers that be on your behalf.)

Thank you to St.Anthony for that one …..

Asked about the value of poetry in times of crisis, Heaney answered it is precisely at such moments that people realize they need more to live than economics: “If poetry and the arts do anything,” he said, “they can fortify your inner life, your inwardness."
